Japan Extends State of Emergency
(Updated May 29th)
According to NHK, the Japanese government has decided to extend the State of Emergency until 20th of June. The restrictions will remain the same as mentioned below.​
Prefectures affected includes:
Tokyo, Hokkaido, Aichi, Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Fukoka, and Okayama.
​
The Quasi-Emergency will also be extended for 5 prefectures until the 20th of June.
5 Prefectures are:
Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Gifu, and Mie.

Japan expands virus emergency ahead of Tokyo Olympics
(Updated May 14th)
The three areas on Sunday will join Tokyo, Osaka and four other prefectures already under the coronavirus restrictions, until May 31, Suga announced at a government taskforce meeting Friday. Bars, karaoke parlors and most entertainment facilities are required to close. Business owners who comply will be compensated; those who don’t could face fines.

Extension of State of Emergency
(Updated May 7th)
The below mentioned State of Emergency will be extended until the 30th of May according to NHK.
​
The restrictions will not change with:
-Large scale shopping centers be asked to close or limit customers
-Events be asked to not have any spectators (i.e. Sports) or cancel/postpone events in general
​
The State of Emergency includes Tokyo, Hyogo, Osaka, Kyoto, Aichi, and Fukuoka.
​
Please remain cautious and exercise the proper safety guidelines when going outdoors.

First Death from COVID variant in Japan
(Updated April 2nd)
According to Asahi Shinbun, there was a confirmation of the first death in Japan, Kanagawa prefecture, that is thought to be caused by the new COVID variant. Officials are still testing to see which variant the patient contracted.
Please remain cautious as the new variant is spreading in Japan.
